Numeracy for Dyslexic Learners

The Perfect HANDS-ON Approach to Understanding Maths

Why MATHS for DYSLEXIC STUDENTS?

After having integrated concepts (change, time, sequence, order) that are the foundations of Maths, it is time to master mathematics visually.

When a dyslexic student struggles with maths, there are three main reasons for it:

a) Missing foundations

b) Maths needs to be made tangible first, then abstract. That means amounts need to be seen and touched to understand place value and get the big picture.

c) Rote learning is challenging for visual learner - as rote learning is an auditory skill.

It takes two days for a visual learner to master maths.

Most of my dyslexic maths students couldn't get enough - and ended up LOVING MATHS!
