Why MATHS for DYSLEXIC STUDENTS?
After having integrated concepts that are the foundations of Maths, it is time to master mathematics visually.
These foundations were necessary to proceed:
Change
Consequence
Time
Sequence
Order
When a dyslexic student struggles with maths, there are three main reasons for it:
a) Missing foundations
b) Maths needs to be made tangible first, then abstract. That means amounts need to be seen and touched to understand place value and get the big picture.
c) Rote learning is challenging for visual learner - as rote learning is an auditory skill.
This course addresses points 'b' and 'c' (the Foundations are in CONCEPTS OF DYSLEXIA)
You will need four to five colours of Plasticine and the two koosh balls. It will be a lot of fun.
Most of my dyslexic maths students couldn't get enough - and ended up LOVING MATHS!
